Saefari ferry from Dalvik to Grimsey and Hrisey
Sæfari offers scheduled trips from Dalvík to Grímsey and Hrísey. The islands are known for their palatial scenery and diverse bird life and have over the past few years gained a reputation as charming and popular tourist destinations. The Arctic Circle runs right through the middle of Grímsey and all those who step over the Circle can receive a special, illuminated certificate to confirm it.
Grímsey is Iceland´s northernmost inhabited island and home to around 100 persons, most of whom are employed in the fishing industry. The 100 metre high cliffs on the island´s east coast are the nesting place of many species of birds and one of the best sites in the country for birdwatching. Plus, a view of the midnight sun in Grímsey is simply unforgettable.
